其實仔細檢查這一段話，這正是「無我的付出」，也就是「愛」的表現。
或許蕭伯納並沒有嘗試著去定義「什麼是愛」吧。
許多時候，一個完善的定義可以簡化許多看來複雜的難題。

『個人自掃門前雪，莫管他人瓦上霜』
這個說法原來的含意和「是非只因多開口，煩惱皆因強出頭」同義，「明哲保身」的「智慧」不言自明。但是這是正確的嗎？

當我們看到有人被壓迫，被不公正的欺壓，而我們卻不聞不問，明哲保身，焉知下一次我們將不會成為「河伯的祭禮」？
這和道德無關，沒有人應該因為言論或意見而被處罰。

或許，這是東方文化「敬畏權勢」和「奴性深重」的原點吧？
每個人都希望能夠自由自在的過日子，但是要是連話都不能說，那我們所擁有的除了「虛假」以外還能有什麼？
